Our Statement of Faith
We believe:
- Scripture. The Old and New Testaments were authored by the Holy Spirit working through the personalities and word style of human authors. By this we understand that the Word of God is free from error, and is our only source of authority for the Christian faith and conduct. (I Corinthians 2:13; II Timothy 3:16, 17; II Peter 1:20,21)
- One God. In one Triune God existing in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each has the same perfect qualities and each is worthy of our worship and obedience. (Deuteronomy 6:4; II Corinthians 13:14) He has eternally existed in three persons; co-equal and one God. (1 Peter 1:2, Genesis 1:1, Psalm 90:2, Matthew 28:19)
- Father. That God the Father is the absolute and highest ruler in the universe, and that He is completely
sovereign, ordering, and disposing of all things according to His will. (I Chronicles 29:11; I Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 1:11, 12)
- Angels. That all angels are created beings. Some angels rebelled against God and were led by Satan in an attempt to destroy God's plan. Satan led the fallen angels in their rebellion. These fallen angels became known as demons. They are the enemies of God and have brought sin and evil into the human race. God's angels are those angles that remained loyal and faithful to Him and minister to God and to us as He directs them. (Colossians 1:16; Isaiah 14:12-17; Matthew 25:41; Ephesians 6:12; Revelation 12:7-10)
- Man. That man was created in the image of God. Through Satan’s influence Adam and Eve rebelled against God. This rebellious nature was passed on to their children. God’s sentence on this rebellion is the breaking of man’s fellowship with God, and sentencing man to eternal life with Satan in the lake of fire. God promised deliverance from this judgment through a God-man, who is Jesus Christ our Lord. (Genesis 1:26-28; 3:1-19; Isaiah 7:10-14; Romans 3:23; 6:23; Revelation 20:11-15)
- Jesus Christ. That our Lord Jesus Christ became a perfect man without ceasing to be God. He was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and gave evidence of His deity by a life of love and miracles. His death satisfied God's judgment on Adam, Eve, and their children. His resurrection is the evidence. (Phil. 2:5-9) Jesus is now exalted at the right hand of God the Father. Jesus prays for us and will personally return in power and glory to reign on earth. His kingdom will have victory over Satan. (John 1:1, 2; Luke 1:35; I Corinthians 15:24-28; I Thessalonians 4:16, 17; 5:1-11; Revelation 20:1-3)
- Holy Spirit. That the Holy Spirit indwells all believers, joins them into the family of God, and keeps them there forever. Each believer is commanded to live his life under the control and power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 5:16; Ephesians 1:13, 14).
- Salvation. That all who believe in, and receive Jesus Christ as Lord, are saved from God's judgment, enter God's family, receive a new life, and are to live a life pleasing to God. (John. 1:12; II Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:8-10)
- The Church. The church is a spiritual organism made up of all who receive Jesus Christ, regardless of their affiliation with Christian organizations (I Corinthians 12:12-14; Ephesians 1:22, 23). We observe two ordinances which We practice: baptism, to declare our belief and union with Jesus, and the Lord's Supper, to remember both His life of service and His death for our sins. (Matthew 28: 19, 20; I Corinthians 11:23-27)
- Eternity. In the bodily resurrection of all people. Those who believe in Jesus will experience eternal fellowship with the Triune God in a new heaven and a new earth. Those who refuse Jesus will experience eternal separation from God and eternal torment in the lake of fire with Satan and the fallen angels. We look forward with hope and anticipation to his certain and literal return for his church in the rapture and for the establishment of his millennial kingdom. (Revelation 19:11 - 22:19)
- Gospel. The Good News as set forth in I Corinthians 15:3,4, We believe this doctrine was entrusted to us by God for safe keeping. We are not only to believe it, and teach it, but to live it, and share it with the world. (I Timothy 3:15; II Timothy 3:16; Matthew 28:19, 20; Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8, 10:9, 10)
